Claude Pro (Opus 4.8) Review: A Million-Token Context Window Changes the Workflow

9.2
Anthropic Claude Pro (Opus 4.8)$20.00

Claude Opus 4.8's 1 million token context window lets Claude Pro reason over entire codebases and lengthy documents in a single conversation — a genuine workflow shift, not just a bigger number.

Software9.3/10
Performance9.6/10

The jump to a 1 million token context window sounds abstract until you actually use it: we pasted an entire mid-sized repository into a single Claude conversation and asked it to trace a bug across a dozen files, and it did so without losing track of earlier context the way smaller-context models tend to. For long-form writing and research, the same applies — Claude can hold an entire draft, style guide and research notes in context at once, which noticeably improves consistency in longer documents.

Artifacts continue to be one of Claude's best features for anyone iterating on code, documents or diagrams, letting you see and edit output alongside the conversation rather than scrolling through chat history. Writing quality remains a clear strength, with a more natural tone than most competitors. The gaps are narrowing but still present: there's no native voice mode, image generation isn't supported, and the mobile apps lag behind the web and desktop experience in features. For anyone doing serious research, writing or coding work, though, Claude Pro is an easy recommendation.
